Sealed Air shrinking packaging waste

Sealed Air is emphasising its 'green' credentials and has announced plans to develop new types of shrink film that will allow the company to reduce the amount of material used to produce its films by up to 30 percent.

The global leader of shrink packaging materials and equipment is actively pursuing more environmental initiatives, in particular source reduction, and in doing so hopes that it will have a positive impact on the packaging industry and its customers. Source reduction is at the top of Sealed Air's environmental priorities. The company's goal is to design and manufacture even more efficient, thinner and lighter products, which will preserve resources by using less raw materials, energy and water without sacrificing film performance.

Sealed Air has been developing shrink films for decades using cutting edge materials and process technologies and has already reduced the thickness of wrapped packages with high performance thin shrink films such as the 11-micron Cryovac® D955, the 13-micron Cryovac® IMPACT™ and the New 11-micron Cryovac® D-940.
